DESCRIPTION:Fixture 6 of 9 \nAs most of you know\, Members Day is where we pull out all the stops for a great day out at a top golf club and this year is no different.  AGS members will be treated to 27 holes at the stunning Henley Golf Club.  (It’s worth noting that this fixture is costing the society £79 per person\, however as per usual the cost is subsidised by the society – so the cost for this Members only event is just £55 per person). \nThe format for the day will be to arrive at 8am for coffee and bacon rolls followed by a 9 hole team event starting at 9am.   Following lunch (served at 12:30pm)  we’ll head out for 18 holes single stableford at 1:30pm. \nDress code: Smart casual wear is acceptable in the Lounge and Dining Rooms.  Track suits\, T-shirts and training shoes however\, are not acceptable. \nWhat the club says: This picturesque course is situated on the hillside overlooking the historic town of Henley-in-Arden and provides a fair test to all handicappers. The local scenery has been encapsulated beautifully to create a track that uses undulating fairways\, fast greens and water features to challenge golfers. DESCRIPTION:Our second fixture of 2016 is at the stunning medieval Maxstone Castle. Ian Waters is our defending champion of the Credit Classic. First tee time is 1:30pm. As usual there will be tea/coffee and bacon rolls on arrival\, so aim to get there around 12:30pm. \nWhat the club says: Set in just over 100 acres of beautiful rolling Warwickshire countryside to the east of Birmingham\, the course provides an excellent test of golf and is the chosen venue for regular representative matches at County and Midland level. The course is set in the extensive grounds of the magnificent medieval moated Maxstoke Castle. The par 71 course is 6\,442 yards in length and is blessed with many mature trees. Several holes require the ability to draw or fade the ball around some very large oaks and horse chestnuts. SUMMARY:Coach & Horses Shield
DESCRIPTION:The first outing of the year sees the society visit Drayton Park Golf Club where Tom McKiver will be defending the Coach & Horses Shield. The plan is to arrive around 10:30am (1hr before first tee time – 11:30am) to enjoy a full English breakfast.  Cost for the day out is £35 to members and £40 for guests \nLocated between Abingdon and Didcot\, allow around 45 to 50 minutes drive from Adderbury (alternatively click on the location links to plan your own journey or better still hook a ride with a fellow member!).  The draw for the order of play (in 3 or 4 ball groupings) will be drawn during breakfast allowing plenty of time for a warm up (or extra cup of coffee!!).  There is also a chance to enter the 2’s competition and sweep. \nIn addition to the golf at Drayton Park\, there will also be an evening buffet\, the pairs draw and Karaoke at the Coach & Horses.  The cost for the buffet is £5 per person.  If you plan on playing golf and eating at the Coach & Horses\, the total cost of the day will be £40 or (£45 for guests). \nWhat the club says: We have a challenging course offering varied holes with tree lined fairways and several lakes rewarding the golfer who thinks about each shot. Tighter fairways with short rough favour accurate placement – there are five dogleg par 4’s\, four challenging par 5’s and six par 3 holes. At 6\,473 yards off the white tees the course is enjoyable for golfers of all handicaps\, although it is most rewarding for those golfers who can keep their ball on the straight and narrow. \nGolf Shake Review \nClosing date for entry AND Payment: Sunday 28th February 2016

DESCRIPTION:[two_third last=”no” class=”” id=””]The 2015 AGS Members Day will be played at the beautiful Burford Golf Club. \nThe plan for the day is to meet at the golf club at 8.15am where there will be coffee/tea and bacon rolls on arrival.  (For those interested\, there will be a minibus leaving the Coach and Horses in Adderbury at 7am .  The cost for  the minibus is  £10 per person and there are plans to stop in Burford for a beer or two). \nThe golf will take the usual Members Day format of a 9 hole team event in the morning followed by a light lunch before the main event – an 18 hole stableford individual competition for the Members Day Trophy. \nEntry (& payment) must be confirmed to Wally by Sunday 29th June 2015.[/two_third]\n[one_third last=”yes” class=”” id=””][/one_third]

Last year the society visited South Wales and the wonderful Celtic Manor Resort. DESCRIPTION:[two_third last=”no” class=”” id=””] \nThe first fixture for the 2015 season sees the society visit the historic Stratford Golf Club – now in its 120th year!  Stratford on Avon Golf Club most notable member was Samuel Ryder who opened the present course in 1928.  Set in 190 acres this par 72 course with its tree lined fairways\, fast greens and excellent drainage makes it a great venue for an early spring visit. \nMark Hardy is our defending Champion for this trophy.  See last years Coach & Horses Shield results in full here \nAs per usual\, bot worth mentioning particular for our new members\, entry & payment must be confirmed to Martyn (Wally) two weeks before the fixture.  In this case the deadline is Sunday 8th March 2015.   The cost for the fixture is £35.  The fee for entry/payment after this date is £40. \nRemember that guests are welcomes for all fixtures with the exception of members day.  The cost for guests attending this fixture is £40. \nThe format for the day will be Stableford\, where there will be prizes for 1st and 2nd place.  There are also prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin. \nArrival at 9:45am for a full English breakfast\, first tee is at 11am.  Following the golf\, there will be a 3 course evening meal and 2014 prize giving ceremony at the Coach & Horses\, Adderbury starting at 7:30pm.  There will also be a DJ/karaoke to help with celebrations!  (There is a £10 charge for the dinner). \n[/two_third]\n[one_third last=”yes” class=”” id=””] \nCountdown to event: \n[COUNTDOWN id=”11080″]\n[/one_third]
