About us

Adderbury Golf Society started just over 30 years in 1993 when a number of players for the village’s football decided to hang up their boots and find, let’s say – a more suitable hobby for ageing legs.  Since then the society has gone from strength to strength, attracting dozens of members from the village and beyond.

A day out with the golf society provides a fantastic opportunity to not only play some excellent golf courses but is also great for your mental and physical well-being too! Did you know that in an average round of golf you will walk 5 miles and burn 2,000 calories?  Not only that, but it’s a great way to meet people, see friends, and have a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Our golf season usually starts in March and runs through late September or October.  We typically play once a month and hold a tour away each year just before the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.   You can play in as many or few fixtures as you’d like.  We also run an individual and pairs competition where we crown the champions at the end of the season.  All fixtures are sponsored with prizes awarded to the Winner, runner-up, and third place, nearest the pin, nearest the pin in two, and longest drive.

A voluntary committee runs the golf society.  The committee meets monthly and helps arrange upcoming fixtures, finances, communication, and handicaps.

We are also proud to say that we’ve raised over £6,000 for charities in recent years. Local causes include Katherine House Hospice, Let’s Play, and the Adderbury Scouts.

The joining fee for the Society is just £20, for which all new members receive an Adderbury Golf Society branded Calvin Klein golf shirt.  The annual membership fee is £40 – all of which goes towards securing and discounting golf fixtures and in particular our 27-hole Members Day in the summer.
